EXPERIENCE AS A TUTOR
 

1998 - Present 

I began working as a private tutor during my student teaching experience in Greensburg, PA (Hempfield High School) in the fall of 1998. Since then, I have worked with over 120 clients over the last 15 years - approximately 6-10 students per year.  My main focus in private tutoring is to break down difficult concepts into easier step-by-step concepts.  I also firmly believe in placing students in 'testing situations' to allow them to practice what it feels like when they are taking a real assessment.

EXPERIENCE AS AN ADMINISTRATOR

2005 - 2010

Broad Run High School           Ashburn, VA 

In the fall of 2005, I began my career in administration. I am currently a member of a wonderful administrative team where I serve as an Assistant Principal. Part of my job 

responsibilities include:

* Maintenance of the physical grounds and general upkeep of the school 

* Responsibility for overseeing the math, science, ESL, and fine arts departments

2010 - 2012

Tuscarora High School            Leesburg, VA 

In the summer of 2010, I had the opportunity to open a new high school.  It was an excellent experience in building the school from the ground up.  My responsibilities included:

* Designing the master schedule

* Implementing a new grading program, Clarity

* Responsibility for overseeing the math, science, ESL, and health & physical education departments

2012 - 2019

Briar Woods High School           Ashburn, VA 

In 2012, I had the opportunity to work closer to home again and spend time with my family. I am part of a great team at BWHS and continue to grow in this environment.  Part of my job responsibilities include:

* Responsibility for overseeing the math, foreign language, and health & physical education departments.

2019-2021

Lead middle school during the pandemic while focusing on finding ways to connect with diverse students and families during an unprecedented time in education.

I have experience as an adjunct professor teaching eight sessions a semester in Shenandoah's Career Switcher program for six semesters. All eight sessions focused on classroom management and current teaching practices for adults switching from a current career into the teaching field.
